Inside a Pillow Protector: What’s the Deal With These Things, Anyway?

Say, fellas and flappers, you ever wonder about the finer things in life? Okay, maybe not the finer things, but the things you put your head on every night? Pillows, I’m talkin’ about. More specifically, those things they make you put on pillows these days. Pillow protectors, they call ’em.

Sounds like some new-fangled contraption, like a self-winding watch or a refrigerator that plays music. But let me tell you, these protectors are the real deal, even if they ain’t as glamorous as a night at the Cotton Club. But what are they actually made of, you ask? Well, hold your horses, because I’m about to lay it all out for you.

Turns out, they use all kinds of stuff to make these protectors. Some are made from that good old-fashioned cotton, just like your grandpappy’s nightshirt. Soft, breathable, you know the drill. Then there’s the fancy stuff, like silk, smooth as a baby’s cheek. Course, you gotta be careful with that, treat it with kid gloves. And then there’s them new-age materials, names I can’t even pronounce, but they’re supposed to keep you cool and dry all night long.

Some of these protectors, they even got waterproof linings. Now, I don’t know about you, but I ain’t never been one to sweat like a hog in a sauna, but for those who do, I guess it makes sense. Keeps your pillow from gettin’ all soggy, like a wet newspaper. And for the fellas with allergies, well, they got protectors for that, too. Special materials that keep them pesky dust mites at bay.

So there you have it, folks. The lowdown on pillow protectors. Who knew there was so much to know about these things? But hey, a fella’s gotta stay informed, right?
